The Bhoot bungalow trip – ACMCC Trip II

The last time around I had a Bhoot Bungalow experience was in June 2009 when Sangeetha and I went for a trek into the core area of the Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary in Tamilnadu. Since it was right in the middle of the monsoons, camping in the open was ruled out and we had to spend the night in some crumbling buildings built by the British.
This time around, the destination for the ACMCC trip was a dilapidated hunting lodge of the erstwhile princely family of Jetpur; located on the periphery of the Gir sanctuary. During this trip we touched or drove through Somnath, Girnar, Jetpur and Junagadh.

It was a long long long drive… The first two cars left about an hour early and seven of us in the third Innova started from the campus at around 1.30pm on the 26th of February 2011.
Stopped at the Avantika resort near Limbdi for lunch…

Stopped again for dinner at Junagadh and by the time we reached the haveli, it was around 11 in the night.
In the dim lights, the place looked quite eerie and we walked around to do a quick recce… The ambience was perrrrrrrfffffffeccccttttt ! – An old haveli on a hill-top. A chowkidar who stays alone in the place. Creaky wooden floors. A few old pictures hanging on the walls… and the pitch dark jungle all around.

After a small walk in the jungle, where some of the guys apparently saw a lion, leopard and a croc (I just saw some pug marks though), we were back in the haveli and the broken wooden bed was really inviting after the long and tiring day.
Hmmm… KK found a comfortable corner for himself and bedded down for the night.

Next morning woke up at around 7am and found UJ busy in the kitchen…

A quick cup of tea, grabbed the cameras and we were all walking around the place snapping away at anything and everything. The jungle did not look so spooky in the daylight after all ![]()

Some pix of the haveli and the surroundings…
